If you're feeling really bored, X's Grok AI chatbot is now available for free.

The Grok-2 chatbot from xAI is now available for free to everyone, although with some restrictions. Regular users have a limit of ten messages every two hours.

The X platform has launched Grok-2 for free, allowing users to explore its functionality. Since its announcement, it was known that this new chatbot would arrive, and now it is available to everyone. However, free access has limitations: it only allows sending ten messages every two hours and performing three image analyses daily.

This beta version of Grok-2 has replaced the previous Grok-2 mini chatbot, thus becoming the only option on the platform. Despite its availability, Grok is not considered the most advanced chatbot, as it frequently makes mistakes. Users are warned that they should "verify their results." Previously, the bot generated controversy when it provided incorrect electoral information.

Additionally, Grok's image generation component has also faced criticism in recent months for creating inappropriate content, as well as for violating copyright by generating controversial images.

The X platform has seen a significant decrease in its user base, as many have moved to other platforms like Threads, Bluesky, or even to offline activities. For this reason, the removal of the usage cost for Grok could be an attempt to win back dissatisfied users and compete in a market where there are many alternatives to free chatbots, such as ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, Google Gemini, and Claude from Anthropic.

Recently, it has been reported that xAI, which has raised $6 billion in a funding round, is considering launching a standalone app for Grok, something that many AI companies already offer. So, if you're looking for some entertainment, you can try Grok on your X account and explore what it has to offer.
