I want to press the big red power buttons on the Genki USB-C power strip.
Keep your desk full of devices always powered up.
Genki has introduced its first power strip, known as Moonbase, which allows for the simultaneous charging of up to seven devices, utilizing three AC outlets and four USB-C ports. This power strip can deliver up to 240W of power through its USB-C ports, with a maximum of 140W for a single device. Moonbase will include custom USB-C cables featuring built-in lighting, making it easier to connect devices in low-light conditions.
The power strip is now available for pre-order through a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo, with deliveries scheduled for April 2025. The retail price of the power strip is expected to be $120, although there is an introductory discount of $88 for early buyers. There is also the option to purchase a set of four Genki Moonlink USB-C cables for $129.
Although Genki is not a widely recognized brand, it has successfully raised funds for several products since 2019, including portable charging docks for Nintendo Switch and more compact USB-C chargers. With approximate dimensions of 7.7 inches in length, the Moonbase is designed with three spacious AC outlets on top to accommodate bulkier power adapters.
The outlets feature a transparent design with LEDs that change color when a button is pressed. Additionally, the power strip incorporates an efficient GaN (Gallium Nitride) charger that delivers a total of 240W of power through its four side USB-C ports. Each USB-C port has a 140W output limit, but this can only be achieved when using just two of the ports. If all four ports are in use, two can provide a maximum of 100W while the other two reach 20W.
Among the Moonlink cables, one includes a built-in display and the capability to handle 240W of power. Not all USB-C cables can support over 100W, which is why Genki has developed an optional set of enhanced Moonlink USB-C cables. Three of these cables support 100W charging and come in three lengths: small (1 foot), medium (3.3 feet), and large (6 feet). The Moonlink+ model handles 240W and features an LED screen that shows current power consumption.
The Moonlink cables emit a glow at their opposite end when one of their ends is connected, helping to illuminate the USB-C port of the device being charged; the light turns off once both ends are connected. While the Moonlink cables are offered as part of a package with the Moonbase power strip, only one of each of the four versions is included, meaning that users cannot select the cables that best suit their configuration.
