I Love LUCI: This Lifelogging Camera Seriously Surprised Me at CES 2025.

It also features artificial intelligence technology, but its main function is to help you locate specific moments recorded within your video.

At this year's recent CES, LUCI was introduced, a portable video camera powered by artificial intelligence, developed by OpenInterX, designed for lifelogging and vlogging. This device was tucked away in a quiet corner of the convention center and turned out to be one of the most surprising finds of the event, almost going unnoticed.

The LUCI Pin is a compact pin-shaped device that incorporates a 12MP ultra-wide camera capable of recording videos in 4K resolution. Unlike other wearable devices with integrated cameras, such as the Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses, which limit recording to just 3 minutes of video, the LUCI Pin can record or stream live for up to 4 hours of content. This capability is determined by the battery life of the LUCI, but the device can connect to any external power bank and charge while in use, essentially allowing for unlimited recording and streaming time.

With these features, the LUCI Pin is presented as an ideal device for those who want to keep a record of their daily life without the need to write a diary. This is especially appealing to parents who want to capture special moments while enjoying them without having to look through a screen.

Regarding its processing power, OpenInterX founder Shawn Shen emphasized that the recording limitations of other products are due to the processing occurring within the device, causing the camera sensors to heat up excessively. The LUCI Pin solves this problem by performing processing on a smartphone or an optional additional device called the LUCI Hub, which acts as a dedicated processor, storage, and display for the LUCI Pin. This Hub can attach to the back of an iPhone via MagSafe, eliminating the need to charge two separate devices.

One of the most interesting features of the LUCI is its content organization capability powered by artificial intelligence. During the demonstration, it was shown how the LUCI Hub or the app on the phone can quickly review recorded material and create stylized videos from it, an attractive function for content creators on platforms like TikTok and Instagram Reels who want to upload content quickly before editing longer versions.

Despite the proliferation of AI wearables in the form of pins, LUCI differentiates itself by not including unnecessary voice assistants. Its main focus is to simplify the process of recording and organizing content. For example, by searching for "dog" in the LUCI Hub or app, users can quickly retrieve all videos that include a dog. Furthermore, it was demonstrated that the LUCI can remember details of past events, such as describing the breakfast from the previous day simply by using the recorded video.

Regarding privacy, LUCI takes measures to ensure transparency in its use, as it features a light that turns on when the device is recording and a physical lens cover that can be slid over to ensure nothing is recorded without consent.

OpenInterX has announced that the LUCI Pin will have a retail price of $99, with the first units expected to start shipping in a few months. The launch of the LUCI Hub is slated for a later date yet to be confirmed. If its performance is as impressive as showcased during the demonstration, LUCI is sure to find a large number of enthusiastic users.
