How to Activate ChatGPT's Superpowers for Siri in iOS 18.

Siri has now acquired reasoning skills and multimodal abilities similar to those of ChatGPT. Below are the simple steps you need to follow to activate this feature on your iPhone.

The recent update to iOS 18.2 has enabled the integration of ChatGPT with Siri, a highly anticipated feature since the announcement of Apple’s artificial intelligence system, known as Apple Intelligence. This new capability allows Siri to redirect a question to ChatGPT if it cannot satisfactorily answer a query, making Siri an even smarter assistant. Thanks to ChatGPT's multimodal skills, users will be able to ask questions that require image or file analysis, significantly expanding Siri's usefulness.

To activate ChatGPT integration in Siri, users only need to follow a few simple steps after installing the iOS 18.2 update. There is no need to download any app or create an account with OpenAI to access this feature. The steps are as follows:

  1. Ensure that your iPhone is running iOS 18.2 or a later version.
  2. Open the Settings app.
  3. Look for the section titled Apple Intelligence and Siri.
  4. Scroll down to find the option Extend Apple Intelligence and Siri, and select ChatGPT.
  5. Tap Configure next to the ChatGPT option at the top of the screen.
  6. In the pop-up window that appears, select Next and then Enable ChatGPT.
  7. On the ChatGPT page in Settings, locate the option that says Confirm ChatGPT requests and activate it as well.

It is important to note that Siri can now leverage ChatGPT's natural language processing and reasoning capabilities, which has been achieved through extensive data training. However, for those wishing to access advanced ChatGPT features, such as personalized chatbots, signing in will be required to verify subscription status.

Lastly, users can download the ChatGPT app directly from the settings panel within the Settings app.
