HMD may be preparing a tribute with a new design inspired by Windows Phone.
HMD, the makers of the Skyline phone, could be developing another device inspired by Windows Phone if the leak turns out to be correct.
HMD, the company behind mobile devices, is strengthening its efforts to revive the iconic designs of Windows Phone with the launch of a new model, known as HMD Skyline. Recently, a smartphone associated with the codename Sage has been circulating on social media, featuring a design that looks familiar.
The features of the Sage resemble those of the Skyline, taking notable inspiration from the shape of the Lumia 920. This model has square edges, a flat back panel, and rounded corners that make it more ergonomic. In the upper left corner of the back, there is a camera module that stands out for its island design. Like the old Lumias, the Sage will be available in several vibrant colors: dark green, blue, and red. In the leaked images, the HMD logo can be seen in the center of the back of the device.
Additionally, some specifications of the Sage have been shared. Although the front display has not been revealed, it is expected to feature a 6.55-inch OLED screen with a 90Hz refresh rate. The camera module on the back is designed to house two 50-megapixel cameras. It is also mentioned that the device will have a 3.5 mm headphone jack, NFC, and an IP52 rating for dust and water resistance.
However, the latest leaks indicate that the Sage will not be a flagship device from HMD. It will be made of plastic and will feature an Unisoc T760 processor, which has been used in some other phones, including the Motorola Moto G35, priced at around £150 ($195). If the price is competitive, users are likely to accept these specifications, and many appreciate HMD’s effort to recover the appealing designs of Windows Phone devices.
It has not yet been confirmed whether the Sage will be a real smartphone from HMD. The account that disclosed this information has been active since 2023 and has shared various details about the brand, lending some credibility to the leaks, although they still remain unconfirmed. Recently, HMD also introduced the Fusion model, which focuses on modular phones, in addition to launching the Skyline in July, while striving to help children reduce their screen time with more basic devices like the Nokia 3210 and the Barbie Phone.
