HBO Documentary on Bitcoin Claims to Have Found the Cryptocurrency's Creator, but He Denies It.

A new HBO documentary titled "Money Electric: The Bitcoin Mystery," directed by Cullen Hoback, has stirred controversy by suggesting that cryptocurrency developer Peter Todd could be the true identity of Satoshi Nakamoto, the enigmatic creator of Bitcoin. However, Todd has strongly denied this claim, stating that "Cullen is wrong. I am not Satoshi... The truth is that Cullen is looking for gadgets to justify his theory," according to his statements to MarketWatch.
In a possible attempt to divert attention from Hoback's hypothesis, Todd expressed that discovering the true identity of Bitcoin's creator would be an almost impossible task. "It's likely that hundreds, even thousands of people had the necessary skills to create Bitcoin in 2008. Any of them could be Satoshi. Unless Satoshi chooses to reveal their identity, we will probably never know who they really were," he added.
The search for Satoshi's identity has been a recurring theme in the narrative of Bitcoin. Australian computer scientist Craig Wright proclaimed himself to be the creator of the cryptocurrency, but his claim was widely questioned, and a court determined that he was not Satoshi. In 2014, a well-known magazine published a cover story claiming to have found the inventor of the cryptocurrency, Dorian S. Nakamoto, who also denied being the creator. As the story unfolds, multiple theories and denials about Satoshi's true identity have emerged.
Todd has reiterated his denial of being Satoshi on platform X following the documentary's premiere. Currently, "Money Electric" is available for viewing on Max, allowing viewers to assess the evidence presented by the documentarian.
