Guide to All Missions in the Dareel and Samin Research Report in Monster Hunter Wilds.

If you are having trouble hunting and capturing creatures in the side missions of Monster Hunter Wilds, here is a guide to Dareel and Samin's Research Reports.

In Monster Hunter Wilds, in addition to facing giant monsters, you will also have the opportunity to capture small creatures through the side research missions of Dareel and Samin. These missions require you to track and capture endemic wildlife, which can be challenging if you haven't seen the creatures before. As you progress through the main story and unlock new areas, you will find more capture missions, totaling six. Below are the steps to complete all of Dareel and Samin's research missions.

Dareel’s Research Report: Capture a Tracktail Lizard

The first challenge you will encounter is activated at the Windward Plains Base Camp. Talk to Dareel at his shop, who will ask you to find a Tracktail Lizard, which usually appears in the desert of this region. The ideal place to start the search is around the Oasis (Area 13). Pay attention to the small lizards with large tails. Once you find it, use your capture net and return it to Dareel to receive 10 Honey and 50 Guild Points.

Samin’s Research Report: Capture a Dapperwing

After completing Dareel's initial mission, you can start Samin's first report at the same Base Camp. His task is to capture a Dapperwing, which inhabits the Scarlet Forest during the day. Switch to this region and search in Area 2 or Area 6; however, you may also find them in other locations. Remember to look at the tree canopies, where they tend to perch. When you bring the Dapperwing back to Samin, you will receive five Honey, 10 Blue Mushrooms, and 50 Guild Points.

Dareel’s Research Report (Continued): Capture an Ember Rufflizard

Dareel's second mission will ask you to find an Ember Rufflizard. These creatures are located in the Oilwell Basin, especially near lava areas, such as Area 15, on the lowest level. You won't be able to overlook these lizards as they are iridescent and shine a bright green color. Capture it and return it to Dareel, who will reward you with 10 Strength Seeds, five Honey, and 100 Guild Points.

Samin’s Research Report (Continued): Capture a Rime Beetle

Samin has another creature for you to capture, this time a Rime Beetle. They can only be found on the Iceshard Cliffs, specifically in Area 2 and Area 7. You will recognize these beetles by their habit of pushing snowballs. You will need to interrupt their work to capture one and hand it over to Samin, who will reward you with 10 Mandragora, five Honey, and 100 Guild Points.

Special Research Report from Dareel: Capture a Gillopod

Dareel's final mission consists of finding a Gillopod. You can only find them in the Wysteria Ruins when the environment is "Plenty." Gillopods crawl on the walls and are usually found in Area 2. Look on the walls and use your net to catch them. For this mission, you will conclude with a reward of 10 Snow Herbs, five Honey, and 300 Guild Points.

Special Research Report from Samin: Capture a Sandstar

Finally, Samin's last research mission will take you to seek a Sandstar. This challenge will only be available at night and in the same "Plenty" environment. Additionally, Samin mentions that they are sensitive to noise, so you will need to bring a Screamer Pod. To obtain them, use your grappling hook on the Baunos in Windward Plains. Then, look for a Sandstar in the same dune area where you found the Tracktail Lizard (Area 13). They are small creatures that shine blue. Get close enough to use the Screamer Pod and temporarily stun it. Take this opportunity to capture it and bring it to Samin, who will give you five Herbs, 10 Honey, and 300 Guild Points.
