Grok is now accessible without the need for the Twitter/X app.

The generative artificial intelligence chatbot from X, known as Grok, which was launched in early 2023, has made significant progress by becoming accessible to users.

Launched in early 2023, X's generative AI chatbot, known as Grok, has evolved significantly with its recent introduction as a standalone app for iPhone and iPad users. Currently in beta phase, Grok for iOS offers free access to Grok 2, the latest version of the xAI model, which stands out for its improvements in natural language understanding and generation capabilities.

The Grok app provides a conversational interface that allows users to engage in interactive dialogues, as well as create high-quality, customized images. This functionality not only enhances creative expression but also leverages real-time data from X and the web, making it a valuable tool for information search and collaborative creativity. Regarding privacy, the platform also emphasizes its commitment to the security of data interactions.

Until December, access to Grok required a paid subscription to X, but it can now be used for free, albeit with certain restrictions: for example, users can send up to 10 messages every two hours and analyze a maximum of three images per day. Those opting for the paid version will not have these limitations. Grok offers similar functionalities to other applications like ChatGPT and Microsoft CoPilot and can interact directly with social media content. This enables Grok to track trending topics and gather information that is not accessible through other chatbots.

When downloading Grok on iOS devices, it is crucial to ensure that you get the official app, as there are many third-party applications posing as the legitimate version. Long-time Grok users celebrate the arrival of this standalone app, which could increase the use of the tool, although there is also the possibility that this may cause service disruptions.

Recently, xAI introduced Grok 2 and Grok 2 mini, two enhanced versions of its chatbot, promising superior performance in areas such as chatting, coding, and reasoning. Grok 2 has been evaluated in performance tests and will be available to Premium and Premium+ subscribers in beta, with plans to expand access through the Enterprise API in the near future.
