Great news about Microsoft Teams.

The new unified view of Microsoft Teams will be available in public preview next month, and threaded conversations will be implemented next year.

Microsoft plans to make modifications to its Teams application in the near future. A new design that combines chat and channel views is expected to enter public preview in November. Additionally, the inclusion of threaded conversations is anticipated for the year 2025. Currently, the app organizes chats (both individual and group) in one tab and channels in another, which can complicate the tracking of communications, as the lack of visibility of posts can lead to errors and misunderstandings.

With the new combined view, users will have the opportunity to see all their chats and channels in one place and organize them according to their preferences. There will be a Favorites section at the top where the most frequently used chats and channels can be pinned, as well as grouped by themes. It is expected that chats will retain their circular icon and channels their square icon, allowing for easy differentiation.

In addition, new controls will be introduced to provide greater management over message previews and timestamps. A mentions view will allow users to see all the places where they have been mentioned, thus making it easier to pay attention to priority messages without overlooking them. These modifications will be implemented in both the desktop app and the mobile version, so it is recommended to update in November to take advantage of the new features.

Although the threaded conversation feature is still some time away, it is anticipated to improve the clarity of chats by showing only the initial post in the main feed. To read the responses, users will simply need to click on the corresponding thread. Despite Microsoft Teams having a negative reputation as a messaging app compared to Slack, these updates seem to indicate a significant advancement.
