Google will allow you to create clip art for your documents using AI.

However, it is limited only to paying users.

Google Workspace has introduced a Gemini-powered image generator directly in Google Docs, allowing users to quickly create visuals for their documents. This new feature resembles a clip art creator and follows the trend of AI-generated art functionalities that Microsoft has implemented in its Office products.

The image generator is available for paid Workspace accounts that have the Gemini Business, Enterprise, Education, Education Premium, or Google One AI Premium options. Those with access to this feature will find it in the Insert menu > Image > Help me create an image. This will open a sidebar panel titled “Create an image,” where users can enter a description of what they want to generate. Additionally, a dropdown menu is provided to select an artistic style, with options such as “Photography” or “Sketch.”

Users will also be able to choose from several image formats, including square, horizontal, or vertical, to better fit the design of various documents such as flyers, brochures, or menus. There is also the option to create full-width cover images that span through documents without pages.

The “Create an image” engine is based on Google’s latest version, Image Generator 3, which promises improved detail, lighting, and reduced distracting elements compared to previous models. Last year, a similar feature was introduced in Google Slides, allowing the creation of slides using AI tools, similar to Clippy.

The rollout of this new feature will begin in domains with a rapid release schedule starting today, although it may take up to 15 days to become available. On the other hand, domains with a scheduled release will experience a gradual rollout starting December 16.
