Google Maps Celebrates Two Decades: Discover Its Most Visited Places and Curiosities You Might Not Know.

It has been a long time...

Google Maps has reached its 20th anniversary, and to commemorate this occasion, the company has highlighted some of the most iconic places that have been part of its history, as well as useful tricks that users may not be aware of.

Among the most popular destinations on the platform are a variety of sites such as restaurants, parks, monuments, museums, and castles. Some of the recognized places include Hard Eight BBQ in Texas and the Cologne Cathedral in Germany. Additionally, Google Maps has showcased featured locations in its Immersive View feature, where users can explore ground-level images of iconic sites such as the Eiffel Tower, the Golden Gate Bridge, Big Ben, and the Griffith Observatory.

As part of the celebration, fun moments captured by Street View cameras have also been shared, including unexpected animals in photos. Users can review a complete list to discover how many of these places they have visited and plan future adventures.

On the other hand, Google has compiled a list of 20 interesting features that may be useful for Google Maps users. Among them, the recent integration of Gemini AI stands out, as well as the option to check air quality available in the app. To access this information, users should tap the layer icon in the top right corner.

Other features worth noting include the offline maps function and the ability to create and share lists of destinations. To find these lists, users only need to switch to the "You" tab in the app.

As an additional tip that was not mentioned by Google, users can zoom in or out of the map view using just one hand by double-tapping followed by a swipe up or down with their finger.
