Google Gemini seeks to access your search history.

Google Gemini offers various features, but so far it has not requested access to users' search history on Google.

With the recent introduction of the Gemini personalization model by the company, the Google app has incorporated new features. Until now, Gemini had not requested access to users' search history, but that has changed with the arrival of this innovation, identified in beta version 16.8.31. By opting for this new model, users will encounter a pop-up window requesting authorization to access their search history, which will allow the chatbot to provide more relevant responses. For this feature to work properly, the Web and App Activity option must be enabled.

Despite its experimental nature, results during limited testing have shown that Gemini provides accurate responses based on the user's search data. However, it has been noted that issues could arise since it is still in a testing phase. There is no official information yet on the general availability of this feature, although it may be launched soon alongside an update for Gemini Advanced users.

The Gemini model is trained using a vast dataset that includes text and code to optimize its performance. However, until now, it had not requested permissions to access personalized searches, raising questions about user privacy. Gemini Advanced users are expected to respond in various ways to this new personalization option.

In another area, Google has ambitious plans for artificial intelligence development, as highlighted by its CEO, Sundar Pichai. During an earnings report, Pichai mentioned that around $75 billion will be allocated for artificial intelligence this year, aiming to maintain competitiveness in a rapidly evolving market. In comparison, other companies like Meta and Microsoft have announced similar spending on their AI initiatives. However, questions have been raised about the necessity of such investment levels given the efficiency advancements shown by new AI models.

Additionally, Google has been expanding its features in areas such as Google Maps, which will soon allow users to customize their vehicles within the app. This new update will offer customizable options for a wider range of vehicles, including color selection.

Finally, the platform has also introduced a new verification badge to help users identify trustworthy VPNs in the Google Play Store, enhancing online security and protection.
