Google Flights has made a significant update to its platform that will make it easier for users to find the cheapest airfare, although this may imply less convenience in some cases. Previously, search results prioritized a combination of price and comfort, often leading users to miss out on cheaper opportunities and thus spend more.
With this new improvement, a tab called "Cheapest" has been added to the flight results page, allowing travelers to quickly access the most economical fares available. While these options may include itineraries that require more stops or the need to book through different airlines or platforms, users will have the freedom to choose based on their priorities, whether cost or convenience.
The functionality explained by Google shows that, for example, you might find lower prices through a booking site other than the airline’s, or you could save by returning to a different airport within the same departure city. Alongside the new "Cheapest" tab, the "Best" tab will continue to display the most convenient options according to the platform's criteria.
Since its launch in 2011, Google Flights has incorporated various improvements, such as the recent introduction of a feature that suggests the best time to book cheap flights. Additionally, this tool offers a price tracking option that alerts users to significant drops in fares for their selected routes.
