Google developed an artificial intelligence tool capable of conducting research for you.

Gemini will also prepare a research report.

Google has introduced a new artificial intelligence tool called Deep Research, which allows users to query the Gemini bot to research the web and create a detailed report on the findings. This feature is currently available only in English for Gemini Advanced subscribers. Users with access can request that Gemini research a specific topic, generating a "multi-step research plan" that can be edited or approved later.

The research process begins with searching for relevant information on the web, with Gemini conducting subsequent related searches on multiple occasions. Once the research is complete, the bot delivers a report with the "key findings" and links to the websites from which the information was obtained. Additionally, it allows users to request expansions on certain areas or adjustments to the report and even export the AI-generated research to Google Docs. This functionality bears similarities to the Pages feature of the AI search engine Perplexity, which creates a customized page based on user prompts.

Deep Research was launched as part of a broader announcement that includes Gemini 2.0, Google's new AI "agent" model that has the capability to perform tasks on behalf of the user. This tool is one of Google's initiatives in this direction, aligning with other developments exploring the capabilities of AI.

Alongside Deep Research, Google also introduced Gemini Flash 2.0, an improved and faster version of the next-generation chatbot, which will be available to developers. Currently, Deep Research is accessible only to Gemini Advanced subscribers via the web, where users can try it by selecting "Gemini 1.5 Pro with Deep Research" from the model menu.
