Gmail will now assist you online in composing emails using artificial intelligence.

The "Help me write" feature will be available in Gmail for the web version.

Google is expanding the “Help Me Write” feature for Gmail on the web, allowing users to create or adjust emails using Gemini's artificial intelligence. Similar to the mobile version, users will receive a prompt to use this feature when opening a blank draft in Gmail.

The “Help Me Write” option is only available to those who have a Google One AI Premium subscription or have purchased the Gemini add-on for Workspace. In addition to generating an email draft, this tool can also provide suggestions for formalizing, expanding, or summarizing a message.

Google will also incorporate a shortcut for the “polish” option found within the “Help Me Write” tools. This quick access will appear in drafts containing more than 12 words. In Gmail on the web, users will be able to click this access or use Ctrl + H to quickly refine an email. On the mobile version, this option will replace the existing “Refine My Draft” shortcut. Instead of swiping to see options that allow for polishing, formalizing, expanding, or shortening an email, the app will automatically adjust the message by swiping on the “polish” shortcut. Users will then be able to modify the message using other Google AI editing tools.

Google will begin gradually rolling out the “Help Me Write” feature on the web, as well as the new shortcut for “polish,” starting today.
