Recently, it was announced that FromSoftware will release a new game titled The Duskbloods, exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2. This was revealed in a teaser trailer during a Nintendo presentation dedicated to the Switch 2, where it was indicated that the game will premiere in 2026, under the direction of Hidetaka Miyazaki, known for his work on successful titles such as Elden Ring and Dark Souls. However, no additional details about the plot or gameplay were provided during the presentation.
The trailer and title evoke strong echoes of Bloodborne, the acclaimed title that has remained exclusive to Sony's PlayStation consoles. However, an announcement from Nintendo of America and the website for The Duskbloods clarify that this new project will differentiate itself with its player versus player and enemy (PvPvE) multiplayer format. Despite FromSoftware being recognized for its epic single-player games, such as the Dark Souls series and Elden Ring, the release of The Duskbloods is preceded by the arrival of Elden Ring Nightreign, the first game solely focused on multiplayer.
Nintendo has also mentioned that more details about The Duskbloods will be revealed in an article titled "Creator’s Voice" with Miyazaki, scheduled to be published on Nintendo's official website on April 4. This preview could be useful, as the trailer focuses more on the visual style than on concrete information. With an atmosphere reminiscent of Bloodborne, a gothic environment can be appreciated along with characters that seem to belong to a vampire clan called the Twilight Blood Clan. The quality of the enemies, monster design, and game's aesthetics are characteristic of FromSoftware.
A highlighted moment in the trailer suggests the possibility of an open world, although it will be necessary to rely on experts in FromSoftware's lore for a deeper analysis of the details presented in the three-and-a-half-minute trailer.
