Fortnite will let you play as Godzilla, if you're lucky.

Godzilla will arrive in Fortnite on January 17. If you're lucky, you'll have the chance to play as the legendary creature.

Starting January 17, Fortnite players will be able to enjoy a special event featuring the iconic Godzilla making a limited-time appearance on the island. This is a unique opportunity, as some lucky players will have the chance to control the legendary monster.

According to information provided by Epic Games, there is a possibility that a portal will appear on the map during Battle Royale matches. The first player to find and jump into the portal will transform into Godzilla, who will have various abilities. Among these are a roar that reveals the location of nearby players, a stomp attack that sends opponents flying, and a heat ray capable of destroying structures.

In this event, Godzilla will also act as a boss for other players. By attacking specific weak points, they can inflict additional damage and collect fragments that grant health boosts and charges for a dash. To help players defeat this formidable creature, Epic has reintroduced the railgun into the game. The event is expected to conclude on February 21, coinciding with the end of the current season.

As usual in Fortnite, several customization options related to the event will be released. Players who own the current battle pass will be able to unlock a reactive Godzilla skin by completing certain challenges. This outfit will have a glowing effect that activates after the first elimination in a match, increasing its brightness with each player eliminated, which may make the most successful players more visible to their opponents.

Additionally, a package featuring outfits for Kong and Mechagodzilla is expected to arrive in the store. The latter will also display glowing effects when attacking other players. A fun scene in the event's trailer shows Mechagodzilla destroying buildings until the camera zooms out to reveal that it is in a miniature city, which could hint at a new emote in the game.
