Fortnite will launch its first-person mode next week.

Ballistic is the highly anticipated first-person shooting mode for Fortnite, and it will be released next week.

The highly anticipated first-person mode, known as Ballistic, will be integrated into Fortnite on December 11. Epic Games hinted at the arrival of this new mode back in March, and now more information has been revealed about how it will work. Ballistic is a round-based 5v5 mode without respawn, reminiscent of competitive games like Valorant or Spectre Divide. In this mode, a team of attackers must plant and detonate a Rift Point Device at specific locations on the map, while defenders try to eliminate the attackers before they can achieve their objective.

After six rounds, the roles of attackers and defenders are reversed, and Ballistic matches are held in a best-of-seven format, both in ranked and unranked play. Before each round, players will have access to a "buy screen" where they can acquire weapons and items using credits earned through eliminations and planting the Rift Point Device. Unlike other titles, Fortnite does not feature heroes with special abilities, but Ballistic introduces Flex Gadgets such as proximity mines, bubble shields, and various grenades to help players gain an advantage in combat. These Flex Gadgets are not lost upon death, unlike weapons.

The arrival of Ballistic comes one year after the introductions of Lego Fortnite, Rocket Racing, and Fortnite Festival. Although these modes have some relation to purchases within the battle royale mode, their goal is to keep players engaged within the Fortnite ecosystem. For the new mode, Epic has confirmed that players will be able to equip any skins, backpacks, footwear, wraps, sprays, or emotes they already own in the game.

The early access version of Ballistic will be available on December 11, and initially, it will only be playable on the Skyline 10 map.
