Five Tips from ChatGPT Provided by a Senior OpenAI Official

Make the most of GPT-4o.

OpenAI has shared a series of tips to maximize user experience with ChatGPT, presented by Nicholas Turley, the company's product head. These recommendations focus on enhancing productivity and creativity, as well as solving problems, whether in a work environment or personal life.

  1. Voice Mode
The advanced Voice Mode of ChatGPT allows for smoother and more conversational interactions. This mode is designed to facilitate brainstorming, problem-solving, or simply enjoying a chat with the AI. However, this option is only available to Plus and Team subscribers. It is advised not to use it for therapeutic purposes.

  2. Memory Mode
Starting a conversation with ChatGPT from scratch can be tedious. However, it is possible to ask it to retain certain information. Turley highlighted that there is no need to wait for the model to infer details about the user, as one can provide all the information they want it to remember. It’s a form of advanced personalization, although those with reservations about using their data should consider avoiding this functionality.

  3. Create a GPT
OpenAI offers the option to "Create a GPT." This allows users to build a custom AI assistant for specific tasks, such as tutoring, organizing schedules, or even being a game master for role-playing adventures. Turley assures that the setup is "very simple," and OpenAI provides tools to adjust the behavior, responses, and personality of the model.

  4. File Uploads
Although this feature has been available for over a year, Turley mentions that file uploads are one of the least utilized aspects of ChatGPT. Users can upload documents, spreadsheets, and PDFs, allowing the AI to process data or summarize content. It is a powerful tool that many seem to be unaware of.

  5. Images
Turley also mentioned the curious lack of interaction between users who work with text and those who use images. He observed that audiences often do not intersect. However, by combining both types of content, powerful creative opportunities can be unlocked. This applies both to creating practical projects, such as greeting cards, and to conceptualizing innovative ideas.
