Fires in Los Angeles: Satellite Images Reveal the Devastation.
Fires in California have caused the destruction of at least 10,000 structures.
Wildfires in California continue to wreak havoc, with a tragic toll of seven victims and more than 10,000 buildings destroyed. Authorities have issued evacuation orders for nearly 180,000 people, and Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna has compared some of the affected areas to war zones, stating that "it looks like a bomb has been dropped."
The situation is severe, with satellite images highlighting the extent of the devastation, which could increase in the coming days. Weather conditions, characterized by strong winds and dryness, are fueling the fires, and these conditions are expected to persist well into next week, with gusts of up to 55 mph forecast for Thursday night.
Despite the ongoing efforts of firefighters, the blazes continue to spread uncontrollably, and emergency teams are facing a limited water supply. The largest fire in the region, known as the Palisades Fire, threatens Los Angeles and spans nearly 20,000 acres (over 31 square miles).
Another significant fire is the Eaton Fire, which has burned nearly 14,000 acres (over 21 square miles) in Altadena, near Pasadena. Satellite images show thick smoke rising from the Eaton Fire, highlighting its devastating impact on nearby communities.
