Fantastical arrives on Windows: an excellent calendar app for PCs.
After several years of being exclusive to Apple, Fantastical is finally coming to Windows.
Fantastical has established itself as one of the most outstanding and powerful calendar applications available. Since its launch in 2011, it has stood out for its attractive aesthetics and ease of use compared to other calendar tools. I have been a user for years, and whenever I decide to try alternatives, I always return to Fantastical thanks to its appealing design, its natural language processing capability that allows users to create events simply by typing phrases like “Lunch with Arthur 12:30 Friday at Panera,” and its integrations with task list applications. Although it comes at a high cost, priced at $57 annually or $7 monthly, it is valuable for those who rely on their calendar, even though it is currently only available for Apple devices.
Now, Fantastical is finally coming to Windows, the most relevant productivity platform. Flexibits, the developer of Fantastical, has stated that the Windows app features all the capabilities of the previous versions and is a truly native application, rather than a web version or an unoptimized port. However, there is one limitation: it is not yet natively compatible with Arm, which means that users with PCs like Copilot Plus will need to use an emulator to run it, although Flexibits has indicated that an Arm version will be available soon.
Support for Windows has been one of the most anticipated requests from Fantastical users, according to Flexibits CEO Michael Simmons, who made the announcement in a statement. This release is labeled as Fantastical 4.0, though the new platform itself is the only significant novelty. Fantastical is now compatible with Mac, iOS, iPadOS, Apple Watch, Vision Pro, and Windows; however, the Android version has not yet been announced.
For Windows users downloading Fantastical for the first time, it is advisable to start with the free version, which includes most of the basic calendar functions and will be sufficient for many people. If you decide to pay, one of the most useful features of Fantastical is the option to join video meetings with a single click, so it’s recommended to integrate your video conferencing applications. Additionally, Fantastical Openings, a feature similar to Calendly integrated within the app, is very useful if you need it. Over time, what continues to stand out about this app is its visual appeal and the ease of adding and moving events. It is an ideal tool for advanced users, but it really is an excellent option overall.
