The recent recall of the Cybertruck makes us reflect that Tesla is no longer the guardian of our electric dreams.

It is not the preferred electric vehicle.

Tesla's Cybertruck, with its peculiar design, is facing yet another recall. This incident not only highlights that it is a vehicle that seems more like an experiment on wheels, but it also reflects a shift in Tesla's position as a leader in the electric vehicle (EV) market. Nathan Hubbard, CEO of Firebird Music, expressed his opinion on a social media platform, indicating that while Elon Musk was the reason he owned electric vehicles, they are not Teslas, a sentiment that resonates among many EV enthusiasts.

Musk's persona has evolved; while he was once admired, he is now seen as a polarizing figure who alienates some potential buyers. Even though Tesla still represents 48.9% of the EV market in the United States, it no longer holds the majority, as other competitors have entered the space aggressively, including major manufacturers. Even the giant Ford has scaled back its ambitious electric plans this year. A concerning fact is that hybrid vehicles are outpacing pure EVs in popularity, which could further impact Tesla.

More and more competitive electric vehicles are offering features comparable to the Cybertruck, often at more attractive prices. This shift is clearly perceived by consumers who are reconsidering their choices when it comes to buying an EV. The initial vision I had of Tesla as a pioneer has changed drastically, and there is no longer enthusiasm for contributing to the company's growth under Musk's leadership.

In the near future, Musk plans to unveil the Tesla robo-taxi, but many anticipate that this launch will lack real appeal to consumers, as no more affordable models like the Model 3 are being presented, with its cheapest variant no longer on the market. The perception of Tesla as a brand that has neglected the needs of ordinary consumers has multiplied, especially when observing the Cybertruck.

This model has drawn attention in cities like San Francisco and New York, where its unconventional appearance makes it seem out of place. Some of its design choices have been questioned for being potentially dangerous, which might partly explain the recalls. The latest, related to the mirrors that have a delay in displaying the rearview camera, will be addressed with a software update.

Although recalls are not exclusive to Tesla and are common in the automotive industry, this is the fifth for the Cybertruck, reinforcing the perception that the vehicle was created more by Musk's whims than by considerations of practicality or aesthetics. The impression left by this vehicle is that it is an attempt to stand out, but as public opinion shifts, that cry for attention seems like an act of desperation.
