The dark side of Billy Crystal sends chills in the teaser for the new psychological thriller "Before" for Apple TV Plus.
Billy Crystal like you have never seen him before.
Apple TV Plus has released the trailer for its new psychological thriller titled "Before," in which Billy Crystal plays a tormented psychiatrist, delivering a performance that evokes a similar atmosphere to "The Sixth Sense." In this new role, Crystal moves away from his iconic portrayal of Harry Burns in "When Harry Met Sally" to embody Eli, a child psychiatrist grappling with the grief of losing his wife.
In the trailer, Crystal showcases his dramatic skill as he takes on the role of Eli, who forms a significant bond with a troubled boy named Noah, played by Jacobi Jupe. However, their relationship soon takes a dark turn when Noah starts drawing eerie pictures of a mysterious farm and leaving symbols on Eli's door, prompting Eli to injure his fingers.
A particularly chilling moment occurs when Noah, wide-eyed and terrified, tells Eli, "You know what you did," which cuts to a vision of Eli's deceased wife, Lynn, played by Judith Light, submerged in a bathtub. This suggests that Eli harbors dark secrets yet to be revealed when "Before" premieres on October 25 on the streaming platform.
The ten-episode series adds to a roster of other character-focused productions such as "Black Bird," "Lady in the Lake," and "Shining Girls." "Before" follows Eli as he attempts to cope with the loss of his wife and his relationship with Noah, a boy with an unsettling connection to his past. Eli is a man marked by pain, and the presence of his deceased wife in the house serves as a constant reminder of his grim history.
In addition to Billy Crystal, the cast includes Rosie Perez, Maria Dizzia, and Ava Lalezarzadeh, promising to enrich the intriguing narrative presented by this new series.
