EcoFlow claims that subscriptions are not necessary to access advanced features... for now.

Subscriptions may be introduced soon.

EcoFlow has announced that it is currently in the testing phase of new advanced features for its PowerStream Balcony solar system, which have been offered to a select group of paid evaluators. The company responded to concerns from various users regarding the potential implementation of subscription fees for features of already purchased devices. Through a post on its Facebook page on January 30, it stated that "it has not initiated any payment plans for software at this time" and that "it will not proceed with such plans until it has fully considered and evaluated user feedback."

The new features of the PowerStream system, which will be accessible through its mobile app, incorporate innovative technologies designed to address specific critical needs. EcoFlow argues that by offering them under a subscription model, users will avoid paying for advanced features they do not use. Furthermore, the company asserts that this payment model will allow them to continue maintaining and developing these essential specialized features.

The company also assures that it has no intention of restricting the applications and software functions that are already available on its energy devices through a payment system. "All existing features for PowerStream users remain unchanged. The basic functions of these devices will never be subject to payment fees, and additional payments will never be required to normally use your devices."

The PowerStream Balcony solar system combines solar panels, a large portable battery, smart plugs, and a compact microinverter to provide solar energy at a lower cost, which can be used to power other devices and appliances through standard home outlets. Through the EcoFlow app, users can manage how much energy from the solar panels is allocated to keep appliances like washing machines and coffee makers running, or how much is used to charge batteries during periods of lower solar energy generation.

So far, EcoFlow has not revealed details about the new features being tested for the PowerStream system, including additional functionality, availability to all users, and potential associated costs.
