Developers of The Witcher and Cyberpunk Join Forces to Create The Blood of Dawnwalker.

Rebel Wolves, a studio made up of former developers from Witcher and Cyberpunk, has unveiled a new gothic fantasy RPG titled The Blood of Dawnwalker.

Rebel Wolves, a new studio formed by former developers of The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077, has revealed its first project titled The Blood of Dawnwalker. This game promises to immerse players in a gothic fantasy reminiscent of The Witcher. The protagonist, Coen, much like Geralt, has sacrificed his humanity in exchange for power, merging human traits with vampiric abilities to confront his adversaries.

The reveal trailer, which echoes the legacy of its creators, includes clear references to The Witcher, both in the design of the Dawnwalker logo and in the music. In the opening moments of the trailer, a group of soldiers is seen chasing a man and his sister through the forests of the Carpathians in the year 1347. At the climax, as the soldiers are about to execute the protagonists to halt the spread of a disease, monsters resembling Cenobites appear and brutally massacre them.

Though little else is revealed in the trailer, an intriguing phrase suggests that "true evil can bask in the sunlight, and the most loyal allies may lurk under the cover of night." This raises complex moral questions that the game aims to explore, and the trailer, showing an apparently malevolent monster fighting for a greater cause, could indicate a deep analysis of the duality between good and evil.

Only a few snippets of gameplay were shown where Coen fights enemies, slides down a wall, hangs from a flagpole, and observes a vast forest. Although the presented mechanics do not seem entirely original, the combination of elements promises an engaging experience. This was just the cinematic trailer, and a gameplay preview is expected to be shown later in the year, providing a clearer insight into its gameplay style.
