"Dell claims that its record 4K monitors will include 'important features for visual care', although there are still doubts about it."
Manufacturers are focusing on providing safer experiences for users.
Dell has introduced its new range of UltraSharp monitors, which stand out as the world's first to receive a five-star eye comfort certification validated by TÜV Rheinland. This certification ensures that the monitors possess features that promote visual well-being, including a reduction in blue light emission of up to 30% compared to competing models, without compromising color accuracy.
Among the innovations in the UltraSharp series are ambient light sensors that automatically adjust brightness and color temperature according to the user's surroundings, helping to reduce eye strain. Additionally, the low reflectance capabilities are a significant addition, as they minimize glare and enhance concentration in workspaces.
Two of the new models, the 32-inch and 27-inch UltraSharp with Thunderbolt connectivity, are designed with professionals in mind and were launched ahead of CES 2025. Both devices incorporate IPS Black technology, which delivers deeper blacks (47% deeper) and improves environmental contrast by 89% compared to conventional IPS monitors. They also offer an impressive contrast ratio of 3,000:1, VESA DisplayHDR, and a 4K resolution to enhance color accuracy and depth.
Dell describes this new line as the "ultimate productivity powerhouse," thanks to a series of integrated features, including a Thunderbolt 4 connectivity hub, USB-A and C capabilities, and RJ45 ports. Furthermore, both monitors have the ability to deliver 140W of power through USB-C for compatible PCs, along with front-facing ports that allow for 15W charging for phones and other accessories.
The arrival of this new series comes at a time when the industry is recognizing the importance of visual comfort for both casual and professional users. At CES 2025, Samsung also unveiled its ViewFinity S8 monitor, which includes an 'eye saver' mode and anti-glare features. TÜV-certified monitors adjust color temperatures according to ambient lighting to reduce eye fatigue during prolonged use, especially in office environments. LG, on the other hand, has introduced QHD monitors with a reading mode and a 'flicker safe' mode to minimize screen flicker, similar to Samsung's recent innovations.
