Dbrand re-releases its Darkplates 2.0.
The website is just as provocative as you expected.
Dbrand has recently launched the Darkplates 2.0, an improved version of the original side plates for the PS5 console, now adapted for the PS5 Slim models. This new design eliminates the four-plate system of the PS5 Slim, replacing it with a simpler set of just two plates, one for each side. These new plates feature a sleek black finish and include circular vents that facilitate airflow, which could contribute to cooler operation of the console.
The Darkplates 2.0 are available for purchase through the Dbrand store, with options for both the standard PS5 Slim and the digital edition, each priced at $69.95, although there is currently a $10 discount. It's also possible to add a magnetic stand for an additional $10, as well as a mid-skin priced between $24.95 and $49.90, and light strips that vary from $11.95 to $19.95 depending on the chosen pattern. In total, the cost can range from $69.95 to $100.85, depending on the selections made.
The first batch of stock is already in the process of being shipped, with more waves anticipated for November, December, and January. Therefore, those interested in upgrading the original PS5 Slim plates will have several opportunities to acquire this new accessory.
On a more provocative note, Dbrand has not held back in its criticism of Sony on its website, sarcastically highlighting the console's ventilation. The company had faced legal issues previously when it received a cease and desist order from Sony, which forced Dbrand to halt production of the original Darkplates. However, for this new version, they claim not to be infringing on any patents, suggesting that this accessory might be here to stay.
