Copilot Expands on Microsoft's 50th Anniversary and Introduces New Features.
During an event marking Microsoft’s 50th anniversary, the company unveiled the new features that will be added to Copilot.
This April 4 marks the 50th anniversary of Microsoft, and on this significant date, the company founded by Bill Gates has taken the opportunity to reveal important advancements in its artificial intelligence assistant, Copilot. Mustafa Suleyman, executive vice president and CEO of Microsoft AI, presented the latest features of this tool, highlighting that Copilot will now be able to remember previous conversations, as well as users' likes and preferences, including personal details such as a pet's name or work projects. Suleyman expressed that this update will transform the way we interact with technology, offering a much more personalized and enriching experience.
One of the most relevant novelties is that Copilot, with the "Memory" function, will be able to retain information about users' preferences and details. This will allow the assistant to personalize its responses and offer proactive recommendations, although users will be able to decide what information they want to be stored or whether they prefer not to use the feature. Furthermore, Copilot has expanded its functionality, allowing users to perform actions on most websites, such as making ticket and restaurant reservations.
The tool has also improved with the ability to recognize visual content in real-time from smartphone cameras and photos, enabling it to answer questions related to what it observes. The Copilot Vision feature, which was initially implemented on the web platform, is now being extended to Windows operating systems and mobile platforms. On Windows, it will be able to interpret what appears in other applications and documents, while on iOS and Android devices, it can interact with what is seen through the camera or in the photo library.
Another interesting addition is Deep Research, which allows Copilot to process numerous documents or online information sources for more complex projects. This feature has been integrated with Bing, enabling the search engine to provide AI-powered responses. Additionally, Copilot will be able to create audio content similar to a podcast to explain various topics, and a new option called Pages will allow for more efficient organization of notes and research work. As a nod to nostalgia, users will be able to customize their Copilot with the appearance of the beloved assistant Clippy.
