Claude incorporates desktop applications and support for dictation.

The Claude chatbot from Anthropic now has desktop applications available for Mac and Windows. On the other hand, Claude's mobile apps are incorporating support for dictation.

Anthropic has launched desktop applications for its AI-powered chatbot, Claude, which are available starting today in public beta for Mac and Windows operating systems. The company has indicated that these applications allow users to access Claude's features directly in their preferred work environment. However, it is important to note that the new desktop applications do not include the recently announced Computer Usage feature, which allows the enhanced version of the Claude 3.5 Sonnet model to perform tasks on the user's computer.

Both free users of Claude and those subscribed to premium plans can access these new applications. Additionally, Anthropic has introduced a dictation tool for Claude, although this feature is not yet enabled in the desktop applications. For iOS, Android, and iPadOS devices, users have the option to record and upload a message of up to 10 minutes for Claude to transcribe and respond, although this method does not allow for real-time conversation, resembling more the sending of a voice message.

The arrival of these innovations coincides with rumors that Anthropic is in the process of raising billions of dollars, with a valuation exceeding $40 billion, highlighting its interest in making Claude a prominent competitor against rivals like OpenAI's ChatGPT.
