Cisco seeks to employ artificial intelligence to protect your new applications and data.
A Cisco tool aims to help companies securely build and launch artificial intelligence applications.
Cisco has introduced a new tool designed to help businesses build, deploy, and secure artificial intelligence-based applications. The solution, known as Cisco AI Defense, aims to address two fundamental risks: the development and deployment of secure AI applications.
It is estimated that businesses plan to develop "hundreds, if not thousands" of AI applications, making it impossible to have different security and protection protocols for each one. In this regard, having a unified approach is crucial.
Among the features offered by Cisco AI Defense are the ability to detect AI applications, providing security teams with information on who is developing these tools and the training sources they are using. It also includes model validation to minimize the risk of harmful adjustments through automated testing, runtime security to protect against potential threats like instruction injection, and access assurance to AI applications.
The company highlights that AI Defense is "self-optimizing," allowing it to adapt and offer controls in a multi-model environment. Additionally, it integrates with existing data flows and is embedded within Security Cloud, Cisco's multidomain security platform. This tool is expected to be available for businesses starting March 2025.
Jeetu Patel, Executive Vice President and Chief Product Officer of Cisco, has stated that "business and technology leaders cannot afford to sacrifice security for speed when adopting AI." In a constantly changing environment, where competition is fierce, speed will determine the winners.
