Chrome on your iPhone can perform searches by combining images and text simultaneously.
It is one of the various features of Chrome for Android that will come to iOS.
The iOS version of Google Chrome is being updated with various features that are already available in the Android version. One of the most notable new features is the ability to perform simultaneous image and text searches using Google Lens. While Chrome for iOS previously allowed users to search for images stored on the iPhone or captured with the camera using Google Lens, it now enables users to add words to refine the search in a single attempt. For example, if you upload an image of a t-shirt design you like and type in a specific color name, Chrome will attempt to find the desired t-shirt.
This update comes at a time when Apple has launched its own visual search tool, although it is only compatible with the iPhone 16 and 16 Pro models.
The new version of Chrome for iOS also offers the ability to save images and files, such as PDFs, directly to Google Photos and Google Drive. This allows for quick access to files without taking up space on the iPhone's local storage, which is particularly useful for those who have already exhausted the 5GB of free storage on iCloud or prefer to use Google Drive.
Additionally, iOS Chrome will incorporate a feature called Shopping Insights, which will alert users to "good deals now" in the address bar when searching for products, as well as access to a price tracker. To use this feature, users will need to sync their browsing history with Google and activate the "Improve searches and navigation" option, which allows Google to receive URLs of the visited pages.
Finally, a mini-map viewer has been implemented in Chrome that allows users to tap on an address on a webpage and view its location on a Google map, without having to open the Google Maps app in another tab. Google has announced that more features will be added to Chrome for iOS in the coming months.
