ChatGPT gained 50 million weekly users in just two months.
OpenAI has reported that ChatGPT has over 250 million weekly users, which represents an increase of 50 million since the end of August.
Investors are showing great interest in OpenAI, especially following the announcement that the company has raised $6.6 billion in funding. The company also shared that "more than 250 million people worldwide use ChatGPT each week to enhance their work, creativity, and learning." This figure has seen a remarkable increase since late August, when OpenAI reported that the weekly user count for the chatbot was 200 million, which represents double the number of users it had last November. According to internal documents, it's estimated that in June a total of 350 million people were using OpenAI's tools each month.
It hasn't been specified how many of these users are paying for access to the services, compared to those using the free version. The exact reason behind such a significant increase in the number of users in just a few months is unclear. However, one factor could be the return to school, which may lead students to use the chatbot for quick research or, in some cases, cheating. OpenAI may also anticipate a new surge in ChatGPT users when Apple integrates it into its Apple Intelligence platform in the coming months.
