ChatGPT comes to Windows

The AI-powered chatbot platform by OpenAI, ChatGPT, is now available on Windows and is currently in a testing phase for some paying customers.

OpenAI has begun offering a preview version of a dedicated Windows application for its ChatGPT chatbot platform. This release is currently available exclusively to ChatGPT Plus, Team, Enterprise, and Edu users. The company has indicated that this is an initial version and a complete experience is expected later this year.

This new application allows users to interact with files and photos. According to OpenAI, it includes recent improvements, such as access to the most advanced model, known as OpenAI o1-preview. The application is designed to work on most devices running Windows 10, although it has certain limitations compared to other ChatGPT clients, such as the absence of support for voice functionality and some integrations with OpenAI's GPT store.

Like the macOS application, the ChatGPT version for Windows has the option to be minimized to a "companion" window that can be used simultaneously with other applications. Users can upload files and photos, request document summaries, and generate images using OpenAI's DALL-E 3 image generator.
