Charter will offer free access to Peacock with some cable subscriptions next year.
Charter advances even further into the uncharted territory of cable television.
Charter has decided to include a free subscription to Peacock Premium, NBCUniversal's streaming platform, in its Spectrum TV Select cable plan starting next year. This decision comes after the announcement of a new long-term agreement between Charter and NBCUniversal, which ensures the continued availability of NBCUniversal's television channels in Charter's cable offerings.
Recently, Charter also sealed a similar deal with Disney, allowing subscribers of the Spectrum TV Select plan to access Disney Plus Basic, which is an ad-supported version. Users who opt for Spectrum TV Select Plus will also be able to add ESPN Plus to their package.
This move is part of Charter's new hybrid strategy to bundle services, which involves combining streaming subscriptions from other companies with its cable plans. There is also a possibility of offering these bundles to its internet customers, allowing them to increase the value of their offerings by presenting the advantage of consolidating multiple streaming services into a single bill.
So far, Charter has not specified the cost of the new plan that will include Peacock. Currently, customers can choose from different subscription options: TV Stream at $40 per month, TV Select Signature at $95 per month, or TV Select Plus at $105 per month, as well as two Spanish-language options that cost $25 or $70 per month.
