CES 2025: Lenovo's 10th Generation Legion Pro 7i Gaming Laptop Supports Graphics Up to RTX 5090.
It can be equipped with an Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX processor. Its starting price will be $2,399 when it is released in March.
Lenovo's gaming laptops under the Legion series are receiving a notable update at CES 2025. One of the stars of the event is the new 10th generation Legion Pro 7i. This notebook can integrate an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 GPU, thanks to a cooling system that allows for a thermal design of up to 250W. Additionally, it features an AI engine that dynamically adjusts the power consumption of the CPU and GPU for optimal performance.
The Legion Pro 7i can be equipped with an Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX processor, accompanied by a powerful NVIDIA graphics card. Lenovo's Coldfront Vapor cooling system manages this high-performance hardware. Moreover, it offers up to 64GB of DDR5 RAM at 6400MHz (2 x 32GB) and an integrated AI chip LA1+LA3, making it easy to run demanding games or any tasks on the go.
The laptop's display is up to 16 inches with a WQXGA resolution (2560 x 1600, 16:10) in OLED technology, capable of reaching a refresh rate of 240Hz and a response time of 1ms, along with 500 nits of brightness. In terms of connectivity, the Pro 7i includes two USB-C ports (one of which is Thunderbolt 4), three USB-A ports, and HDMI 2.1. With all these features, the weight is considerable, starting at approximately 6 pounds. This model will be available in March, with a base price of $2,399, and it is expected that versions with the RTX 5090 will have a significant additional cost.
On the other hand, the Legion Pro 5i (Intel) and Legion Pro 5 (AMD) series also receive a 10th generation update, supporting the same Ultra 9 275HX processor or the AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX, with a thermal power limit of 200W that allows for the integration of an RTX 5070 Ti Laptop. They also offer the option of up to 32GB (2 x 16GB) of DDR5 RAM and a 16-inch WQXGA OLED display at 500 nits with a response time of 1ms; however, their maximum refresh rate is 165Hz, lower than that of the Pro 7i model.
Like the Pro 7i, the Pro 5 series incorporates the AI Engine+ that adjusts CPU and GPU power consumption as needed. This series has a lighter weight, starting at 5.58 pounds, though the launch is scheduled later: the Pro 5i will be available in May starting at $1,499, while the Pro 5 will be released in June from $1,399.
Lenovo also introduced a non-"Pro" version of the 10th generation Legion 7i, designed for "gamers actively studying in STEM programs and fields." This model allows for an Intel Ultra 9 275HX processor and features an RTX 5070 GPU. The OLED display is also 16 inches with similar features to the other series but with a cooling limit of 145W TDP. Its weight is notably lower, starting at 4.4 pounds, and it will launch in June at a price of $1,599.
Finally, the Legion 5i, aimed at "college gamers in non-STEM programs," includes a display of up to 15.1 inches WQXGA, supporting the same processor as the Pro 5i and an RTX 5070 GPU. The AMD version is also available with up to a Ryzen AI 7 350 processor. This line is expected to arrive in May, with a starting price of $1,299.
