CES 2025: Jizai’s Mi-Mo, a Portable Seat That Can Move.
The "Mi-Mo" by Jizai is a general-purpose artificial intelligence robot that resembles a dystopian lamp in the style of Pixar.
This year at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), a curious robot named Mi-Mo has caught the attention of attendees. This robot model, developed by the Japanese company Jizai, is presented as the first "customizable general-purpose personal robot" and resembles a lamp from a dystopian Pixar-style environment, walking on six metal legs with wooden finishes and greeting those who cross its path.
Yuki Ishikawa, CEO of Jizai, highlighted that Mi-Mo is equipped with multiple AI models that allow it to think, act, and adapt independently through visual, auditory, and motion signals. Software engineers will be able to modify these models and create applications to enhance its functions.
Regarding its design, Ishikawa explained that Mi-Mo is intended to resemble furniture, using genuine wood instead of lower-quality materials. Additionally, it is expected to feature hardware add-ons and sensors to increase its functionality. Although during the presentation at Unveiled, Mi-Mo was limited to interacting with attendees by moving its illuminated head, it is anticipated that in the future, it could perform tasks such as serving a drink to its owner.
Currently, there is a waiting list to reserve Mi-Mo, although registrations can only be made in person at CES. The estimated price for the tabletop version of this robot is around $3,500, while the full-size model could reach approximately $30,000. Although the cost is considerable, some might view it as an investment in a uniquely designed robotic assistant.
