CES 2025: Improvements and New Accessories for LG's Portable TV.

If you've been on TikTok recently, you’ve probably come across the StanByMe, a portable battery-operated TV from LG. This 27" LED touchscreen TV has become a must-have item for influencers on road trips. The popularity of this device, priced at $999, has even surprised LG, as the company stated during this year's CES. To adapt to the way the StanByMe was being used, LG launched the StanByMe Go in 2023, which essentially consists of the StanByMe in a suitcase for easy access for content creators on the move. Now, at CES 2025, LG has introduced a new model, the StanByMe 2, along with three new accessories to help showcase this portable TV.

The StanByMe 2 comes with some significant upgrades. The most notable is an increase in resolution, now 1440p compared to the previous models' 1080p. Additionally, the battery of the StanByMe 2 has been improved, now offering 4 hours of battery life on a single charge, compared to the 3 hours provided by the previous version. The remote control of the new model also includes a magnetic accessory that allows it to be attached to the TV, reducing the chances of loss. Among the minor improvements is a magnetic hub for the remote and a USB-C port that allows for the connection of a webcam for video conferencing.

Regarding the TV's presentation, the previous model only had LG's rolling stand, which worked as an easily movable tripod. At CES 2025, in addition to the new StanByMe, LG introduced three new accessories that help display the portable TV. Taking inspiration from Apple’s approach with the iPad, the company has launched a Smart Folio for the StanByMe 2. This case allows the cover to be converted into a stand for the TV. Additionally, there is another accessory that serves as a picture frame stand for those who wish to display the device vertically. Finally, a harness-type accessory was introduced that makes it easier to hang the StanByMe 2 on the wall. During the presentation, LG showcased a coffee menu on the screen of the StanByMe 2 using this accessory, which seems to be quite a creative use.

It seems that LG has a successful product with the StanByMe, and the StanByMe 2 represents a natural evolution. However, the company has yet to announce a release date or the price for this latest model.
