Bluesky and X unveil new video feeds amid TikTok uncertainty.
Taking advantage of the opportunity to fill a possible gap left by TikTok.
As TikTok begins to reactivate in the United States, uncertainty about the future of this video platform has opened up space for other social networks like Bluesky and X to take advantage of the situation. In recent hours, both platforms have introduced innovations that highlight content in vertical format, making it easier for users to search and view videos.
Recently, Instagram launched an alternative to the video editor CapCut, owned by ByteDance, coinciding with the temporary decline of TikTok in the country. Bluesky, in an attempt to catch up with this trend, has introduced customizable feeds for videos, allowing users to browse through them by swiping up or down. They can also create feeds that include only video content associated with specific hashtags, such as the #BookSky feed, inspired by the reading community "BookTok."
The update includes a new video feed in the search tab that showcases a timeline of the most popular videos on the platform. Bluesky has mentioned that the ability to scroll through a timeline of videos is exclusive to these customized feeds. To access the new trending video tab, users may need to update the app several times.
On the other hand, X has begun to implement a new "Video Tab" for users in the United States, displayed as a circular play button on the bottom navigation bar of the app. From this section, users can explore a personalized feed of recommended videos that reflects the real-time nature of X, covering topics such as sports, entertainment, and news.
