BenQ provides wider images from shorter distances, along with cinematographic quality calibration.
BenQ has introduced two new 4K projectors as part of its Home Cinema series: the W5850, focused on cinema screens, and the W4100i, which promises to deliver cinematic-quality images for home theaters, competing with the best projectors on the market.
The W5850 boasts a brightness of 2,600 lumens and is designed to provide the ultimate cinematic experience. This model can project images on screens of up to 200 inches and features a short throw ratio of 1.0 to 1.6, allowing it to display a 180-inch image from just four meters away.
On the other hand, the W4100i incorporates a 3,200-lumen LED light source, along with Android TV and an AI Cinema Calibration mode, which ensures "cinematic-quality images" for streaming content.
Both projectors in the Home Cinema series meet industry standards, offering 100% DCI-P3 and a Delta E of less than 3. High-end models like the W5850 achieve a Delta E of less than 2. Additionally, they feature BenQ's HDR-PRO technology, which enhances contrast through multi-stage processing, including Global Contrast Enhancer, Local Contrast Enhancer, and Dynamic Black. This technology supports HDR10, HLG, and HDR10+.
Moreover, the projectors include noise reduction to improve compressed streaming content and the latest version of the AI Cinema mode, which acts as a real-time image composition analyzer, dynamically adjusting HDR, color saturation, and sharpness, significantly enhancing the appearance of compressed video from major streaming services.
Connectivity options include HDMI 2.1, SPDIF, and eARC with support for Dolby Atmos and 7.1 surround sound. There is also a Low Latency Fast Mode that promises a quick response time of 17.9 ms, ideal for movies, sports, and video games.
As for pricing, only the cost in the UK has been announced, where the BenQ W4100i is priced at £2,999 (approximately $3,890 / AU$6,225) and the W5850 will cost £4,599 (around $5,960 / AU$9,550).
