Several Argos customers who preordered the PS5 Slim 30th Anniversary Edition bundle are receiving automatic emails informing them of the cancellation of their orders. The retailer has explained that this is due to "enormous demand" overwhelming its systems. Reports indicate that these messages state Argos is unable to fulfill the order and will proceed with an automatic refund.
Initial reactions caused confusion over whether these emails were sent by mistake. However, Argos has confirmed that its systems incorrectly processed certain orders. In their official communication, they sincerely apologized for the disappointment caused to customers and assured that full refunds would be issued.
Before this issue, preorders for the PS5 Slim 30th Anniversary Edition opened on October 10 at various retailers, where high demand caused many reservations to sell out within minutes. Argos had managed to keep availability for a longer period, which is now understood to have been a consequence of stock management errors.
