Are Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses Too Expensive? More Affordable Rivals Could Arrive Soon.

Xiaomi seems to intend to launch AI-related specifications in the year 2025.

Xiaomi seems to be considering venturing into the smart glasses sector, according to recent information. These new devices are rumored to be aimed at directly competing with the Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses, offering similar features, including built-in cameras.

The Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses are recognized as one of the best in their category, standing out for their sleek design and strong integration with Meta’s artificial intelligence, which includes useful tools like Look and Ask that operate thanks to the glasses' camera. However, their high price could be the weak point that Xiaomi's new glasses might take advantage of.

According to reports from Chinese media, it is mentioned that Xiaomi plans to launch AI glasses that "will fully compare with the Meta Ray-Ban." These glasses, in addition to featuring Xiaomi's assistant functionalities, which are reminiscent of Apple's artificial intelligence capabilities, will come equipped with built-in cameras and speakers.

Although a specific price for these devices has not yet been set, it is known that Xiaomi tends to offer more affordable technology than its more recognized competitors; therefore, the initial price of its glasses is expected to be below the $299 (or its equivalent in other currencies) of the Ray-Ban Meta.

However, while an arrival is anticipated, it is wise to take these rumors with caution. The Xiaomi glasses are estimated to be launched in the second quarter of 2025, potentially coinciding with the Mi Fan Festival, which is generally held in April. However, there is a possibility that if these devices reach the market, they may be exclusive to China and/or Asia.

Given that Ray-Ban Meta glasses have proven to be extremely popular, it wouldn’t be surprising for other companies such as Xiaomi, Apple, Google, and Amazon to also launch artificial intelligence products to compete in this field, which could benefit consumers with better prices and options.
