Apple's AirTags include new safety warnings about battery for children.

The company has added new features to the Find My service.

Apple has implemented warning labels on AirTags and their packaging to comply with a new regulation requiring these warnings on products that contain button or coin batteries, which pose a risk of ingestion for children. According to a statement from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), AirTags imported into the country after March 19, 2024—the date when the law known as the "Reese's Law" goes into effect—did not have the necessary warnings on both the product and its packaging regarding the serious danger that battery ingestion poses if they are within reach of children.

As a result, the battery compartment of the AirTags now features a "warning symbol," and the packaging has been updated to include the required warning statements and symbols. Additionally, in the Find My app, Apple has modified the instructions that appear when requesting a battery replacement for an AirTag, including warnings about the dangers associated with button and coin batteries.

AirTags were launched by Apple in 2021, and it is speculated that the company plans to introduce a new version of these devices during the course of this year.
