A new mystery and thriller series titled Prime Target is set to premiere on Apple TV Plus in January 2025. This new project promises to be filled with twists and turns that viewers will enjoy.
The series was first announced in February of this year, when the main cast was revealed, featuring familiar faces from other streaming platforms. Leo Woodall, known for his role in The White Lotus and in Netflix's romantic comedy One Day, will join Quintessa Swindell, who appeared in Black Adam, currently available on Max in the United States. Both actors will star in this eight-episode series, and recently released teaser images suggest that Prime Target could become one of the platform's standout shows.
The plot of Prime Target revolves around Edward Brooks, a brilliant graduate student in mathematics who is on the verge of a major breakthrough that could unleash a global threat, similar to the events depicted in WarGames. Woodall portrays Brooks, who is in the process of discovering a pattern in prime numbers. This discovery could grant him access to all the world's computers, which would undoubtedly have significant repercussions. The pursuit of this knowledge does not go unnoticed, and an "invisible enemy" is determined to prevent Brooks from solving the puzzle.
This is where Swindell enters the scene, playing Taylah Sanders, an agent from the National Security Agency tasked with keeping an eye on Brooks. However, there is an additional complexity that connects both characters in the quest to unravel a deeper mystery involving a conspiracy that Brooks finds himself caught up in.
The cast of Prime Target includes Stephen Rea (Interview with the Vampire: Chronicles of the Vampire), David Morrissey (The Walking Dead), Martha Plimpton (The Regime), Sidse Babett Knudsen (Borgen), Jason Flemyng (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button), Harry Lloyd (Game of Thrones), Ali Suliman (Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan), Fra Fee (Rebel Moon), and Joseph Mydell (The Eternal Daughter).
January will be a significant month for Apple TV Plus, as the highly anticipated second season of the science fiction series Severance will also return on January 27, promising viewers multiple puzzles to solve.
The first two episodes of Prime Target will be released globally on January 22, 2025, with a new episode premiering every Wednesday until March 5, 2025.
