Anthropic is reportedly set to launch a conversational voice AI.

It could arrive this month.

Anthropic is about to launch a new "voice mode" feature that could compete with similar options in ChatGPT, according to recent information. The AI voice assistant will be integrated into the Claude chatbot and is expected to be available "as soon as this month."

Reports indicate that the development will include three English voices, named Airy, Mellow, and Buttery. This announcement isn't entirely new, as Anthropic's product director, Mike Kreiger, previously mentioned in an interview that the development of a voice mode was underway, noting that it is a useful modality for which they already have prototypes in process.

The initial research on this new feature was conducted by M1Astra, who found references to the voice mode in the Anthropic iOS app, a finding that was later confirmed. Attempts to get a response from Anthropic yielded no immediate comment.

Founded by former OpenAI employees, Anthropic has emerged as a strong competitor to the company that developed ChatGPT. Recently, it also introduced a new subscription level for advanced users at a cost of $200 per month, as well as a new AI tool focused on research.
