Android 15: Everything You Need to Know.

Android 15 began rolling out to Pixel devices on October 15, and it is expected to reach a variety of other models in the coming months. In this update, Google has focused on optimizing the interface and enhancing existing features rather than introducing drastic visual changes. Additionally, it includes various background improvements and a renewed focus on privacy with the introduction of a new feature called Private Space. This system also boosts satellite connectivity, expanding its functionality beyond just Pixel devices.

The launch of Android 15 was a nod from Google, occurring on such a specific date as October 15. Pixel phones from the Pixel 6 model onward will receive the update. However, many other devices will still have to wait their turn to get this new version of Android. As the year progresses, various manufacturers, such as OnePlus, Oppo, Realme, and Samsung, have begun adapting their custom interfaces to Android 15, while brands like Motorola have initiated open beta programs to test the new update.

Among the highlighted new features of Android 15 is Private Space, which allows users to keep applications and files in a secure environment. This function is useful for separating work applications from personal ones, and it is recommended to set up a different email address for its use, as this will allow the applications in this space to have a higher level of security. Through this system, users can choose to use their existing biometrics or create new ones to access this personalized space.

Android 15 has also introduced an improvement in navigation with a feature called Predictive Back, which offers a preview of the screen when performing the back gesture. However, its implementation still feels rudimentary and works only in a limited set of applications.

Another new feature is partial screen recording, which provides the option to record only the content of a specific application or the entire screen, helping to avoid the accidental disclosure of private information.

Satellite connectivity, a feature confirmed during the launch of the Pixel 9 series, allows phones to communicate directly with satellites. This not only includes the Pixel 9 but also any device with the appropriate hardware will be able to take advantage of this functionality, representing a significant advancement in communication in areas without cellular or Wi-Fi signal.

The new app pairs feature allows users to save groups of two applications to open them together in split-screen mode. Along with this, it has been announced that Android 15 will introduce Notification Cooldown, which aims to reduce the number of notifications reaching the user by batching alerts, and Adaptive Vibration, which decreases the intensity of vibrations when the device is idle.

Furthermore, webcam quality has been improved by adding a high-quality mode, allowing users to use their phone as a higher-performing video camera. Finally, new security features such as USB Lockdown, which disables biometrics and protects information when the phone is in lockdown mode, and the ability to manually archive applications, complete a robust set of improvements that Android 15 brings to users.
