An Incredibly Powerful Laptop for Creatives: With AMD's Fastest Mobile Processor, 64 GB of RAM, and Two OLED Displays, the GPD Duo Could Be the Best Portable Workstation Ever Created.

Finally, the laptop with a dual screen is now available for purchase.

GPD has unveiled its new model, the Duo, an innovative laptop that combines two 13.3-inch OLED displays. Since its initial announcement in June 2024, this device has been designed to enhance productivity and is specifically aimed at engineers. The Duo is currently available for backing on Indiegogo.

The two displays of the Duo feature a 2.8K resolution and a refresh rate of 60Hz, and they are touch-sensitive with the ability to recognize up to 10 contact points, totaling 18 inches of display area. The design allows the secondary screen to rotate 360 degrees, enabling use of the laptop in tablet mode. To optimize battery usage, the second screen can be turned off independently.

In terms of performance, the Duo is powered by either the AMD Ryzen 9 HX370 or the Ryzen 7 8840U processors, and it offers several configurations ranging from 16GB to 64GB of LPDDR5x RAM. For storage, users can choose between SSDs of 512GB, 2TB, or 4TB, with the option to expand storage capacity up to 16TB.

Prices start at $1,270 for the model with the 8840U processor, 16GB of RAM, and 512GB of storage, while the more advanced model, which includes the HX370 processor, 64GB of RAM, and 2TB of storage, costs $1,860. The first units are expected to ship in November 2024.

The Duo is equipped with multiple ports, including USB-A, USB-C (10Gbps), USB4, HDMI 2.1, and a high-speed OcuLink port that supports an external GPD G1 graphics card, thus enhancing graphic performance. Among other features, it includes a 2.5G Ethernet port, dual speakers with DTS support, a stylus sensitive to 4096 pressure levels, and wireless connectivity with Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3. The 80Wh battery promises up to 14 hours of use, with the ability to recharge 50% of the battery in just 30 minutes thanks to 100W fast charging.

While GPD is known for its ability to deliver innovative devices, it is important to consider the risks associated with crowdfunded projects, such as shipping delays or changes in product specifications. However, the Duo has captured the attention of backers, having raised over $215,874 so far, far exceeding its initial goal of $2,574.
