Amazon launches its new line of foundational models, Nova.

Amazon's CEO, Andy Jassy, announced six new models for generating text, images, and videos, which he has named Amazon Nova.

Amazon CEO Andy Jassy unveiled a new series of artificial intelligence models under the name Amazon Nova during the re:Invent conference on Tuesday. This line includes six innovations aimed at generating text, images, and videos. Among the highlighted models are Nova Micro, designed exclusively for quick and cost-effective responses; Nova Lite, a multimodal model that can process text, images, and videos; and Nova Pro, presented as a general model with a balance between accuracy, speed, and cost for various tasks.

Additionally, Nova Premier was introduced, which is oriented towards complex reasoning, and Nova Canvas, a engine that transforms text into images. Lastly, Nova Reel is specially created for video content generation. The text models have been optimized for a total of 15 languages, with Nova Micro capable of handling a context of up to 128,000 tokens. The Lite and Pro models can process up to 300,000 tokens, equivalent to about 225,000 words or 30 minutes of video. The company plans to expand this capacity to 2 million tokens next year.

Canvas allows users to create and modify images using natural language instructions, and the Reels can produce clips of up to six seconds from text or reference images, also allowing control over camera movement. Jassy emphasized that these new models are among the most cost-effective and fastest in their category, although no figures have been released to support this claim.

In terms of availability, the Micro, Lite, Pro, Canvas, and Reels models are already accessible to AWS customers, with an official launch scheduled for the first quarter of 2025.

In other news, Amazon has announced its planned series of discounts for Black Friday and Cyber Monday, which will begin on November 21 and run until December 2, covering multiple product categories with deals on recognized brands.

Similarly, the streaming service Freevee will be shut down, while Amazon prepares to develop a series based on the popular video game Mass Effect, featuring Gabriel Casey as writer and executive producer, known for his work on the Fast & Furious saga.
