Amazfit unveiled the future of health devices at CES 2025.

What is the future of mobile health devices? The Amazfit V1tal could be one of the answers, and I had the opportunity to see it in a private presentation at CES 2025.

In the field of health devices, gadgets like smartwatches and fitness bands are commonly used, while smart rings saw a notable rise in 2024, and this trend is expected to continue into 2025. Smart scales and advanced methods for measuring blood pressure have also become the norm. But what will be the next breakthrough in this sector? During CES 2025, I witnessed an exclusive presentation where Amazfit unveiled its innovative device: the Amazfit V1tal.

The Amazfit V1tal stands out from other health gadgets I have observed before. Its operation is simple and unique: when sitting down to eat, the user presses a button on the V1tal that activates a mechanism to move the screen aside and reveal a camera. Placed on the table, the V1tal focuses on the plate, starts recording, and the user can eat without further worries. Once the meal is finished, the recording stops, and that's where the magic begins.

The V1tal processes the meal video and sends the information to the Amazfit Zepp app. There, the meal is automatically logged, displaying details such as calories and macronutrient breakdown, thus avoiding the tedious task of manually entering ingredients or scanning barcodes. Additionally, the V1tal also analyzes eating behaviors, detecting whether healthier foods have been consumed or if the user has eaten too quickly, providing tips to improve habits in the future.

Food logging and tracking are not new concepts, as there have been various apps performing these functions for years. However, the V1tal offers a practical solution: it simply records the meal and provides an automatic log. Moreover, the V1tal is expected to integrate with Amazfit’s range of devices, which could be highly beneficial for those looking to optimize their training and nutrition simultaneously.

What is even more intriguing is the potential of the V1tal beyond just food logging. With its Zepp operating system, similar to other Amazfit watches, the device could receive notifications, manage tasks, and in the future, allow additional functions such as online shopping through voice commands. While this is exciting, it also raises questions about the V1tal's ability to maintain its primary focus on health while exploring other functionalities.

Amazfit plans to launch the V1tal in the first or second quarter of the year, which is promising, especially compared to other concepts that often remain uncertain. Despite the concerns that could arise from a device that records our meals, it’s easy to imagine its utility for those looking to enhance their nutrition, lose weight, or simply keep better track of their eating habits.

With the Amazfit V1tal, a new possibility opens up in the realm of health gadgets, and it will be interesting to see how it performs in real life and if it meets the expectations that Amazfit has set.
