After the Night: Apple Significantly Enhances "Find My" Features in iOS.
The top news this morning includes an Overwatch: Classic event that brings fans back to the early days of the game, as well as reports suggesting that Amazon is interested in having its drivers use augmented reality glasses to...
One of the most useful features in the public beta of iOS 18.2 is the ability to share the location of a lost item that is connected to Apple's Find My network. While it was previously possible to share the location of an item with contacts in the address book, Apple states that this new functionality will make it easier to get help from third parties.
By selecting "Share Object Location" in the Find My app available on iPhone, iPad, or Mac, users are given the option to create a link that displays the location of the lost item. Anyone who receives the link can open it on any device and access the user's contact information, including the email or phone number associated with their Apple account, allowing for direct communication. Additionally, it is possible to share this information with select airlines, as Apple has partnered with several companies to integrate this feature into their systems.
On the other hand, the technology company for air transport, SITA, is incorporating "Share Object Location" into WorldTracer, its baggage tracking system. This system is used by more than 500 airlines and ground handlers in over 2,800 airports, which is especially useful for those planning to travel in the near future.
For now, this feature is part of the public beta, so those interested in using it will need to install iOS 18.2 to access it.
