After 10 Years, Tumblr Launches Its Experimental GIF Feed.

It includes support for videos, although it doesn't quite reach the level of TikTok.

Tumblr, the popular microblogging platform, has officially revealed its new feature, Tumblr TV, which appears as a tab at the top of its app. This innovation comes after a decade of development since its initial launch as a tool for finding GIFs in 2015, although it now also includes video content.

According to information provided by Tumblr, new users will have this tab enabled by default in the third position, while existing users can enable it through the tab settings on the Dashboard if it is not automatically activated.

When accessing the Tumblr TV tab, users will find a grid of videos and GIFs. Once a video or GIF is selected, users can like, comment, reblog, or share it. To move on to other content, simply swipe up. Although a brief usage test showed that GIF content still predominates, the swipe interface is reminiscent of other short video apps. While it may be tempting to compare Tumblr TV with TikTok, especially following the recent closure of the latter, it currently resembles navigating through a collection of GIF-heavy posts.
